The guides
For AI
And nothing else.
Three numbers
Spendable, pending and reserved.
woodls creditsBelow them, every entry in plain words: “an answer, free: nothing was charged”, “+0.21 credits
pending, for hosting”, “a reservation given back”. woodls whoami gives the short version, woodls status
the overview, and woodls web the same in your browser, where nothing can be spent.
Per million tokens
The pieces of text a model reads and writes.
woodls modelsEach model’s price, in credits for every million tokens it reads and every million it writes. gpt-oss 20B and Qwen3.6 35B are both 8 credits a million tokens read and 30 written. You pay for exactly what was read and written, and 15% of it goes to the shared account that keeps the network running. A request woodls’ server refuses costs nothing. The prices page has every size.
Free, with no credits at all: a private group of your own or your friends’ computers, woodls code on your own provider’s key, a model on your computer, or your own server.
A ceiling
Set before anything is spent.
Before a question is sent, the most it may cost is reserved: 5 credits unless you say otherwise, and never more than you have. The rest comes back when the answer ends.
woodls ask --budget 2 "…"woodls code --budget 10woodls code --daily-limit 20A computer you added to your account spends within its own daily limit, which you set when you add it (Your account).
The first served
Unless you choose.
A question goes to the model you name with --model, else to your saved model while a computer
serves it, else to the first model the network serves now, and woodls says so when it isn’t yours.
woodls config set model gpt-osswoodls ask --model qwen3.6 "…"woodls publicWhen the computer answering is busy, or none serves the model, woodls waits and tries again twice, after 5 seconds and then 15, and says so. Esc or Ctrl+C stops the wait.
Checked here
Not taken on trust.
Every entry is on woodls’ public ledger, signed by its witnesses, and each answer you pay for has a receipt signed by the computer that served it.
woodls history --receiptswoodls ledger verify 1234woodls ledger balancewoodls ledgerledger verify checks an entry against the ledger and its witnesses’ keys, which this computer
pinned when it opened your account, without trusting woodls’ server.
For your records
And for the shared account.
woodls credits statement 2026-11woodls credits give 10 --to sharedThe shared account pays for allowances and, later, for students’ credits. Credits can be given only to it, never to a person.
Two ways on
Earn, or use what’s free.
When a question needs more than you have, woodls says “not enough credits (spendable …)”, and how
to go on: lend your computer with woodls host to earn more, which you can spend once it’s no
longer pending, or ask a private group of yours, which is free (--group NAME).
