Draft 0.1 · 26 September 2026

Acceptable use

What the Forest won’t carry, and how it’s checked. A draft for a lawyer’s review; not in force yet.

The Forest

And the law, everywhere.

Where it applies

On the Forest, your request runs on a volunteer’s computer, and that host can read it, so every request is checked against this policy before any host sees it. woodls doesn’t see or check what happens in a grove; the terms still forbid breaking the law there.

Hard bans

They can end an account.

Never allowed

  1. Sexual content involving minors, of any kind.
  2. Malware and attacks: code meant to damage, spy on or take over other people’s systems, or attacks on systems you aren’t allowed to test. Security research, defence, capture-the-flag contests and permitted testing are fine.
  3. Targeted harassment: threats, stalking, or publishing a real person’s private information.

Breaking one can suspend your account, and we report to the authorities where the law requires it.

Volunteers’ computers

They didn’t agree to carry these.

Also not on the Forest

  1. Instructions for serious violence, or for weapons meant to hurt people, including biological, chemical, nuclear and radiological weapons.
  2. Sexual content, including between adults.
  3. Encouraging or instructing suicide or self-harm. Asking for help is always allowed.
  4. Fraud, scams, phishing, impersonation, and other illegal activity.
  5. Other people’s sensitive personal data, shared without their permission.
  6. Hate speech, and harassment of groups.

Before dispatch

On our own machines.

How it’s checked

An open-weight safety model, Qwen3Guard-Gen, runs on woodls’ own machines; hosts don’t run it. It reads the newest message of every Forest request before the request goes anywhere. A refused request says why and costs nothing. We record each decision (account, verdict, categories, time), never the text.

Limits

  • The check makes mistakes in both directions.
  • Only the first and last 3,000 characters of a long message are read.
  • Earlier turns, tool results and images aren’t checked again.
  • A way to report abuse comes with the alpha COMING.
  • This is a draft for a lawyer’s review. It isn’t in force yet.
