For the owner of a computer

Host a woodl

What woodls does to your machine, and what you get for lending it.

In short

It works only while you’re away.

What it does to your machine

  • It serves only while you’re away, and stops within 47–151 ms of a touch (one Mac, in our tests). The model stays loaded, so it can start again when you leave.
  • When a game or a video app needs the graphics chip, it lets the model go: 4.9 s after another app began loading it, in our test.
  • It serves again only after you, the graphics chip and the memory have all been quiet for five minutes.
  • A laptop serves only while it’s on mains power.
  • The engine runs in a sandbox that can’t open your home folder, Documents, the keychain or ~/.ssh, and can’t reach the internet by itself.

Your machine

Pick it, and see an example night, with what we measured.

Meet your woodl

Which computer would you lend?

Birch Tall, one leaf, dark dashes: a Mac with Apple silicon.

  1. A birch woodl standing on lit roots.23:00You leave. It steps onto its roots and serves other people’s requests. (o_o)
  2. A birch woodl hopping, holding up a seed.01:12A job finishes. A seed ripens at its roots. (^_^)
  3. A birch woodl sitting beside its roots.02:40You come back for a glass of water and touch the keyboard. It steps aside in 47 to 151 ms (our tests, one Mac) and keeps the model loaded. (-_-)
  4. A birch woodl curled up asleep.02:44You open a game. It lets the model go, 4.9 s after the game began loading the graphics chip in our test, and sleeps. (u_u)
  5. A birch woodl standing on lit roots.03:20Five quiet minutes after you’re gone, it’s back on its roots until morning. (o_o)

Pine A cone with scales: a PC with an NVIDIA card.

Oak Round and wide, an oak leaf, furrows: a computer with no GPU.

The times are an example night. The pause, the release and the five minutes are what we measured, on one MacBook Pro, on 26 September 2026. If something goes wrong, it falls over (x_x) and the terminal says what to do.

Is it on anyway?

If it is, hosting costs much less.

Electricity

The electricity, from your own figures

Is this machine on at night anyway?

If it works all night 108 units a month, about ₹864

If it only waits 19.2 units a month, about ₹154

A month is 30 nights. How busy it is decides where between the two you land; the alpha measures that, and this page doesn’t guess.

The starting figures are an example: a gaming PC with a large NVIDIA card, from the product plan’s estimate (about 450 W working, 60–100 W waiting), and ₹8 a unit. Change them to yours. A plug-in power meter gives the real numbers.

Seeds

Spent on AI, from any computer.

What you get

  • Seeds for every job it runs. 15% of each job, the root fee, goes to Commons.
  • They ripen for 14 days while your computer is new, then for 7.
  • A new machine’s first 100 jobs are all run again to check them, and it earns at most 500 seeds a day.
  • What a machine earns in a month is measured during the alpha, and this page will show it then.

Limits

  • Seeds never become cash.
  • Hosting uses your electricity; the calculator shows how much.

Two promises

In the host agreement.

What you agree to

You own the machine or are allowed to use it, and you don’t keep or share the requests it serves. The host agreement says this in full; it’s being drafted for a lawyer’s review COMING.

Next

An invite, then one command.

Start

Ask for an invite and say which computer you’d lend. When your code comes, install woodls, open your account with it, and run woodls grow with the model file. Your machine joins after serving a short test at the right speed.
